The name change from BCU 4* to BC Sea Kayak Leader did not change the Syllabus or Standard of the Award and it still is one of the top International standard qualifications. It offers a entry in to the world of professional paddling. And it’s the Award of choice for those among you looking take out fellow club members. It is recommended to participate in an optional training and we are happy to help you on your way and learn to lead safe and enjoyable short, single or multi-day journeys for up to 6 Paddlers in moderat tidal conditions. That would incl. top end of force 4 wind, a bout 1.5m sea state, tide at up to 2 knots and surf at up to 1 meter.
A rough training plan:
Efficient group briefing: We’ll go through the process of information gathering so you can put a good day on the water together.
Generell: We’ll work on kit management and help you on putting your leadership kit together. You want to carry items like a field repair kit, first aid kit, and group safety kit.
Before getting on the water: Let’s chat about, in more detail, how to get a group on the water while making sure you know everything that you need to know. Acronyms like C.L.A.P. and S.T.O.P as well terms like Underpinning will be discussed.
On the water: We’ll aim to operate above the top end of the remit. Things to focus can be group,-risk,- and incident management, while practicing your leadership, rescues, towing and so on. Your self rescues, rolling and personal paddling skills should be pretty solid and reliable at this point, so you should not have to think about them out there. We’ll also go over trip planning off the water, and the route finding afloat as part of practical navigation.
The training will take place around the coast of Anglesey. We recommend Anglesey Outdoors as you Port for the duration of the course.
After the training: It’s generally recommended to lead and log at least 20 trips before your Assessment. If possible, get on to a Assessment as a mock student as there is a lot to learn.

Früher BCU 4* genannt, hat sich hier seit Jahren nichts geändert und der BC See Kajak Leader ist nach wie vor ein internationaler Standard für Fahrtenleiter und Guides und für viele See Kajaker der Einstieg ins Professionelle Paddeln. Aber auch für Paddler die sich in Ihrem Club mehr Engagieren möchten ist diese Rute Empfehlenswert. Es wird geraten sich an einem optionalen Training zu beteiligen und wir können dies Natürlich bereitstellen um dir auf deinem Weg zu helfen. Ein See Kajak Leader führt Gruppen von bis zu 6 Paddlern auf relative kurzen ein oder Mehrtages-Touren in Moderaten Tiden Bedingungen. Also Obere Windstärke 4, und gute 1.5m Wellen Höhe. Tide bis zu 2 knoten und Surf bis 1m kann es da geben.
Grobes Training Programm:
Effiziente Einsatz Besprechung: Wir gehen schritt für schritt durch den Prozess des Informationen sammeln so das du einen guten tag auf dem Wasser Zusammenstellen können.
Generelles: Wir setzen uns Kit Management auseinander und helfen dir bei der Zusammenstellung deines Leader Equipment, wie Feld Reparatur Kit, Erste Hilfe Kasten, Gruppen Versorgung usw.
Bevor es aufs Wasser geht: Hier geht es nochmal in mehr Detail darum seine Gruppe auf den Tag vorzubereiten. Kürzel wie C.L.A.P. und S.T.O.P. sowie Konzepte wie z.B. Underpinning werden besprochen.
Auf dem Wasser: Wir möchten Natürlich Gruppen,- Risiko und Vorfall Management durchnehmen. Wir werden mit Schleppleine und Kurz-Schleppe arbeiten. Eigen-Rettung, Rollen und Paddle skills gehören auch dazu und sollten bereits schon recht gut bei dir sitzen. All dies in Moderaten Bedingungen, oder leicht darüber. Praktische Navigation, also Ruten Findung vor dem Paddeln und Unterwegs Behandeln wir Natürlich auch.
Das Training findet and der Küste von Anglesey. Und wir schlagen vor das man sich bei Anglesey Outdoors einrichtet.
